Veteran’s Day

9 Nov

Veteran’s Day is one of those holidays that seems to have lost its place over the years. I don’t know what to attribute it to but as the daughter, granddaughter, sister, and wife of veterans whose service included WWII, Vietnam, and Iraq, it saddens me to see support of those who serve epitomized in a slogan on a car sticker. In this sound byte world, does the message resonate or is it obscured in a sea of colored ribbon magnets?

For the next few days in DC, a remembrance ceremony is being held at the Vietnam Memorial where each name inscribed on the wall will be read…all 58,256 of them.
